Alumni Mentorship Congress 4 th Edition, Session 5 (Theme: The Iridescence of Dentistry)
On 4 June 2024, Dr Jimish Desai, alumnus of 2002-2007 batch, visited the college to delivere lecture on the topic ‘Live a Life Less Ordinary’. The Objective of the program was to provide a platform for the alumni mentors to narrate their journey and student mentees to interact, learn, imbibe and be inspired by this journey. Dr.Jimish Desai completed his MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the prestigious MCODS, Manipal securing a Gold Medal, in 2012. In 2013, he joined the Army Dental Corps and in 2015, he was seconded to the Indian Air Force. His presentation covered in detail the process of entering ADC, the hierarchy, the timelines for promotion, Short Service Commission, Permanent Commission, training process, passing-out, other courses that one can do, the opportunities for professional enhancement, benefits, perks, leisure activities and hobbies that one can pursue and many more things related to being a practicing dentist in the Indian Armed Forces.
The presentation was made more thrilling and exciting because of the different videos depicting the life of dignity, respect and action that one gets to lead when one joins the Indian Army, Air Force or Navy. The session ended by sharing a poignant photo with an appeal from Dr Jimish Desai to
